Every person has a reason for his existence. What if
he/she can’t find the reason for his/her existence? What if he/she cannot find
the right reason to live? Is waiting for that one day when everything will be
fine is enough for a person to keep living his/her life?
If that is so, then why Almighty did gave us the
power to dream? Why thinking and dreaming is a major element of our survival? Can
we really just rely on our fate and let things be the way they are? Then,
perhaps fantasizing is my fate. Probably, I’m searching my solace in my
fantasies.
According to many therapists and science, fantasies
are not frivolous. They can be arousing, distracting, scaring, and even
entertaining, but they also allow for space for creativity and helps in
planning one’s future. But still there is a slight difference between fantasies
and realities, which we call hallucinating and/or schizophrenia. Rather, the
fantasies provide a sweet and pleasant escape from the horrible things that
exist in realities.
Isn’t that the reason why people write fictions? Remember
all the fairy tales that we used to read in our childhood? Haven’t the girls
dreamt of growing their hair long after reading Rupanzel? Or the boys haven’t imagined
themselves as the Ninja Turtles or Sumarai Sam? Or if we step of fictions, what
about the TV commercials and advertisements that we watch every day? If I’m
using an XYZ fairness cream, I’m gonna find a handsome hunk. Or if I drink ABC
beverage, I’ll become adventurous and overcome fears. If I use a certain deodorant/perfume,
I’ll become the life of party.
If practicality and reality is important, then why
are we still living in fantasies? Why are people playing with our emotions through
such books and commercials? We let our
children watch cartoons, but aren’t we pushing them towards fantasies
ourselves? And then when they grow up, we tell them this is not real. This doesn’t
happen in reality. You are living far from real world.
We live in our fantasies and endure our realities. I’m
a fantasy lover. Right or wrong I can hardly tell, but I know I’m on the wrong
side of heavens and on the righteous side of hell.
Hmm, that gives a lot of fodder for thoughts. All that is needed is a perfect balance between practicality and reality. I agree, that every human being, no matter how stoic or cold-hearted they are, do entertain fantasy. It is essentially a great escape from reality. Like you said, people find solace in reality.
ReplyDeleteHowever, being a fantasy lover isn't wrong? Yes the children watch cartoons and fairy tales, yet when they grow up, they are told that they all aren't real, but honestly is there any other way?
Even in the darkest hour of a person's life, it is these fantasies, the tenacious hold on hope and existence of goodness, no matter how fleeting or non-existent, that keeps one going. The fairy tales and stories of victory of good over evil have always given us something to fight for, no matter how great the hardship.
Fantasies are what which have sired some of the greatest ideas and works in the world, like Harry Potter. And honestly, I think the world will be too colorless without them. I mean if humans didn't have the ability to think or fantasize, do you think there would've been any difference between us and robots? I don't think so!
As for advertisements, we know they are just for commercial purpose. While they do affect our thoughts to a level, yet they just...are. Nothing of much import.
Fantasies are the zeal and passion of human life!
Waiting for next update.
